HFW continues to grow its Australia presence with two new partners

Global, sector-focussed law firm HFW continues its growth in Australia with the partner promotion of energy and renewable specialist Jo Garland and the partner hire of regulatory and product liability specialist Dr Michael Maxwell from Clayton Utz. They are both based in HFW’s Perth office.

Michael has more than 20 years’ experience acting in high stakes complex litigation, complemented by a scientific research background in pharmacology and toxicology. He has been advising across a range of industries, particularly in challenging product liability and highly technical commercial matters of strategic significance.

Jo’s promotion and Michael’s arrival continues HFW’s growth of its regulatory capability in Australia. In early 2019, HFW launched an Australian workplace relations practice with the hire of a specialist eight-lawyer team in Sydney and Melbourne, led by partners Mark Sant and Brendan Milne.

Hogan Lovells Celebrates the New Year with 29 Promotions

Global law firm Hogan Lovells today announced that 29 of its people have been promoted to partner effective 1 January across a network of 45+ offices in 24+ countries, spanning Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas.

The additions to the partnership are a reflection of Hogan Lovells’ progress as one of the legal world’s only true global law practices. The new partners include:

  • 14 in the Americas, spread across our Baltimore, Denver, Mexico City, New York, Northern Virginia, and Washington, D.C. offices
  • Eight in the UK and Africa, in our London office
  • Six in Continental Europe, spread across our Frankfurt, Luxembourg, Munich, Madrid, and Rome offices
  • One in Asia Pacific and the Middle East, in our Tokyo office.
  • 13 women and 16 men.

Funds specialist Sophie Reguengo promoted to partner at Ogier

Funds specialist Sophie Reguengo has been promoted to partner in Ogier’s leading Jersey investment fund team.

Sophie joins Niamh Lalor and Emily Haithwaite as partners leading the Jersey investment funds team, making Ogier’s the first all-women led investment funds legal team in the Island.

Sophie is a highly experienced investment funds and regulatory lawyer with over 15 years’ industry experience. She is recognised as a “Rising Star” by IFLR1000 and a “Next Generation Lawyer” by Legal 500.

She acts for a wide range of real estate and private equity managers and is an active member of Ogier’s fund finance team. As partner, Sophie will play a central role in Ogier’s funds and regulatory offering.

Sophie is a founding member of Lean In Jersey, and is an advocate for women and equality in the workplace.
