Adidas Reviews the Kanye West Yeezy Partnership

Kanye West’s contentious association with Adidas is “under review.” Late in 2013, West and Adidas announced their collaboration under the Yeezy brand, and their first collection debuted in 2015. The rapper is still the sole proprietor of the Yeezy brand and maintains full creative control over the goods sold under the name, according to the terms of West’s deal with Adidas.

However, Kanye has accused Adidas of a number of wrongdoings over the past year, including allegedly creating Yeezy Day without his consent, the yearly day when the company unveils some of its most anticipated Yeezy sneaker drops.

He then took aim at the business once more last month with a brand-new article in which he imagined the death of Kasper Rsted, the CEO of the sportswear company.

The announcement follows Kanye’s charges against Gap and his declaration that he would pursue all of his future fashion endeavours independently. The rapper discussed his intentions to completely cut ties with his most important corporate partners in a recent interview with a publication.

One of these is launching his own Donda campuses across the country, which will combine dorms, farms, and stores. The merchandise will be exclusive to Yeezy’s physical and online stores and will be created by current Yeezy employees.

Open Letter

Ye followed through and cancelled his connection with the clothing manufacturer Gap after the interview was made public. West’s attorneys informed the company in writing that the rapper will officially end their 10-year partnership, which had been initiated in 2020, in a letter.

The letter, which was written on West’s behalf, alleged that Gap had broken its contract’s conditions.

In 2020, West and Yeezy teamed up with Gap to produce “accessible” clothing. Midway through 2021 saw the release of the first Yeezy Gap collection, which contained a jacket made of recycled nylon. Subsequent drops have included hoodies, jeans, tops, and accessories.

He has filed a number of fresh trademark applications for his Donda Sports clothing business, though, as he seeks to grow independently.
