Grahame Chilton

Grahame Chilton was named CEO of Arthur J. Gallagher’s UK-based international brokerage operations in February 2015, having worked in close partnership with Gallagher since December 2013 when reinsurance intermediary joint venture Capsicum Re was launched, led by Grahame as founding partner. He will continue in his role at Capsicum Re and also becomes a member of the senior leadership team of parent company Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.

Grahame has had a long and successful career spanning more than 30 years in the City. He was appointed as CEO of the Benfield Group in 1996, was part of the management team that led the buy-out of Benfield in 1998, and embarked on an expansion programme of organic growth and acquisitions that led to the company listing on the London Stock Exchange in 2003 and achieving a position in the FTSE 150. He also oversaw the successful sale of Benfield to Aon in 2008, subsequently becoming part of the Global Executive of Aon and ARS, Global Executive and Chairman of Aon Benfield, before transitioning out of the business in 2012.

During his career as a reinsurance broker Chily has traded in non-marine, Marine and aviation reinsurance, motor, energy and direct retrocession business.
