Gonzalo Menéndez Park

Gonzalo Menéndez Park has served as Minister of Foreign Affairs and as a member of the Board of Directors of Guatemala’s Electricity Company and of the National Institute of Electrification. He has extensive experience in advising regional companies, especially those in the financial and pharmaceutical field.

Within his professional practice he has served as a member of several boards, and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Grupo Camino Real, the largest hotel chain in Guatemala.

Likewise, he is one of the most recognized intellectual property lawyers in the country, in which he has brought several litigation cases for the protection of well-known international brands. In the course of his professional career, he has served as university professor at the Rafael Landívar University and as a counselor at the Ministry of Public Health.

Yu-Li Tsai

Mr. Tsai, a patent attorney graduated from Department of Electrical Engineering of National Taiwan University (NTUEE), which is the best engineering school in Taiwan. Out of the interest of communication system, he immediately had attended in the Graduate Institute of Communication Engineering (GICE) of NTU since his graduation from NTUEE and has received his master’s degree after 2-year’s research. During his research life in GICE, he also started to get involved in knowledge and skills of patent-related matters for taking the bar examination for Patent Attorneys. He has passed the exam having a pass rate lower than 4%, and received the qualification of patent attorney.

Mr. Tsai also attended and gained an IP master degree from Law School of University of New Hampshire, also known as Franklin Pierce Center for Intellectual Property. Right after the graduation, he had an opportunity to work for InterDigital, Inc. in Delaware for a short period, and then passed the U.S. Patent Registration Examination. He also passed China Patent Agent Examination recently.

Currently, Mr. Tsai is working for Deep & Far Attorneys-at-Law as a patent attorney and concurrently majoring a law master in National Chiao Tong University.

Julianna Tabastajewa

Julianna Tabastajewa is a partner in Gowlings’ Moscow office. Her practice focuses on intellectual property protection and litigation, pharmaceutical law, competition law, media law, and franchising. She also has extensive experience in domestic litigations and arbitrations in Russia.

Throughout her career, Julianna has represented major Russian and international companies in sophisticated copyright, trade-mark, patent, and domain disputes, including several successful precedent cases for Quelle AG, Volkswagen AG, Audi AG, Champagne Cristal Loius Roederer etc.

Julianna has contributed significantly to new domain regulations in the Russian Federation and has written extensively on the subject. She is also actively involved in intellectual property legislation development initiatives in Russia as an authority of the Anti-piracy Committee of the State Duma (legislative assembly) of the Russian Federation. She is currently working in the Russian Franchising Association on the changes to the Franchising laws. Julianna also advises media, pharmaceutical, and medical device companies on related issues in Russia.

Prior to joining the firm, Julianna served as head of the intellectual property and information technology department in the Moscow office of a Munich-based international law firm for over 9 years and in the Moscow office of a D.C.-based international firm for over four years.

Young Mo Kwon

Nicola Benz
