Walter T. Featherly III

Walter T. Featherly is the executive partner of Holland & Knight’s Anchorage office and a member of the firm’s Corporate, M&A and Securities Practice Group. Mr. Featherly focuses his practice on Alaska Native- and Native American-owned businesses. He regularly counsels boards of directors and executives on matters including corporate law and governance, the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act, the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act, business transactions, mergers and acquisitions, government contracting, labour and employment, finance and real estate.

Mr. Featherly also assists Alaska Native Corporation and tribal-owned businesses to navigate the laws and regulations of the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) 8(a) Business Development and the Historically Underutilised Business Zones (HUBZone), particularly those related to subcontracting and teaming opportunities.

Mr. Featherly regularly speaks on the subjects of corporate governance and compliance, teaming and joint venturing, the requirements of the Federal Acquisition Regulation, the SBA and other laws applicable to small, minority and disadvantaged contractors and the large companies that team with them.

In Alaska, Mr. Featherly has tried numerous cases in the areas of commercial transactions, real estate, construction, antitrust, bankruptcy, products liability, personal injury and eminent domain. He has also tried cases in federal courts and has argued appeals to the Alaska Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Featherly also serves as Honorary Consul to Croatia for the Alaska Consular Corps.

Mike Zolandz is the chair of Dentons’ Federal Regulatory and Compliance practice, and serves as the Managing Partner for Dentons’ Washington, DC office. Mike focuses his practice on advising clients on their most critical and complex trade compliance and foreign investment projects, specializing in cross-border transactions and regulations related to international commerce.

Mike offers clients practical expertise and guidance in advising on US export controls, US trade sanctions programs, anticorruption program development, and notification procedures before the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). Mike also brings decades of policy experience in Washington to offer clients insight into the legislative and regulatory process beyond purely technical expertise.

Mike has led internal investigations and regulatory disclosures under US export control and sanctions programs, and managed complex compliance enhancements and program development for US and multinational companies across industry sectors.
