Ilya Dvorkin

Ilya leads Allen & Overy’s Aircraft Finance practice in Russia and joined the Moscow office in 2008. He is a recognised expert in this field and acts for all of the leading players in the Russian market. He previously spent 18 months in Allen & Overy’s London office as a member of the Structured and Asset Finance team, acting for major lessors and financial institutions on complex cross-border asset finance transactions. Ilya’s practice features a wide range of aircraft financing matters, including pre-delivery payment financings, ECA financings, portfolio sales and leasing, as well as related Russian tax, customs and regulatory issues.

Ilya was the first lawyer to successfully lead the repossession of aircraft from Russia on behalf of an international lessor. Among others, he advised leading international lessors on the KrasAir and KD Avia cases. He also represented major aircraft lessors and banks on their restructurings and on airline bankruptcy cases in Russia.
The current edition of the Legal 500 refers to Ilya as “…one of the best aviation lawyers, if not the best, in the Russian market”. In 2014, as in previous years, Vedomosti named Ilya as the best aviation lawyer in Russia

Mert Hifzi

Mert Hifzi heads HFW’s Singapore office and the Asia Aerospace practice. The HFW Asia Aerospace team comprises 4 partners and 9 Associates, based in Singapore and Hong Kong, and is the largest aviation liability team in the region. Mert handles a wide variety of commercial litigation and insurance matters in various jurisdictions, including air carrier’s and airport’s liability, aviation product liability and coverage disputes. Mert also regularly advises aviation entities on non-contentious issues such as contractual wordings including terms and conditions of carriage, risk management and regulatory matters. He is handling/has handled, on behalf of insurers and reinsurers, a number of high profile multi-jurisdictional disputes and major accidents.
