How To Know If You Really Need A Tow Truck?

May 9, 2023/in Helpful/by News Desk

We’ve all been there before: you’re driving down the road and suddenly, your car starts making strange noises or, worse, breaks down completely. In these moments, it can be difficult to know whether you need to call a tow truck or if you can handle the situation yourself. It’s not just a matter of convenience but also safety.

After all, you don’t want to put yourself or other drivers in danger if your vehicle is not safe to drive. In this blog post, we’ll explore some common scenarios where you might need a tow truck and provide some helpful tips for making that decision. So, buckle up, and let’s dive in!

Transporting Your Vehicle

You may need to call a tow truck when you need to transport your vehicle from one location to another. For instance, the transportation of fleet vehicles will require a tow truck that can carry multiple vehicles at once. Additionally, if you need to move a vehicle that’s inoperable or significantly damaged, calling a tow truck is the safest way to get it from one place to another.

However, it’s important to choose a reputable tow truck company and ensure they have the appropriate equipment to safely transport your fleet vehicles. Make sure to ask about insurance coverage and any additional fees before making your decision.

When Involved in an Accident

One of the most obvious situations where you might need a tow truck is when you’re involved in a car accident. Even if the accident appears to be minor and your car seems drivable, it’s important to have it checked out by a professional. Some damages, such as frame damage or damage to the suspension, may not be immediately noticeable but can make your car unsafe to drive. You can consider car leasing as an alternative means of transport as you get the car towed for repair.

Moreover, if your car is unable to start or has a flat tire, a tow truck may be necessary to transport it to a repair shop or your home. Remember, safety should always be your top priority in these situations.

When Stuck in Snow or Mud

Getting stuck in snow or mud can be a frustrating experience, especially if you’re in a hurry or in a remote location. In some cases, you may be able to free your vehicle by rocking it back and forth or using sand or kitty litter for traction. However, if your attempts are unsuccessful, it may be time to call a tow truck.

A professional tow truck operator can use specialised equipment to safely pull your vehicle out of the mud or snow without causing further damage. This is particularly important if your car is stuck in a precarious location or if the weather conditions are dangerous. Ensure that the towing car is fully licensed to enjoy professional services.

When the Battery is Dead

Another common scenario where a tow truck may be necessary is when your car battery is dead. While you may be able to jump-start your car using cables and another vehicle, this isn’t always a reliable solution. In some cases, the battery may be too damaged or the alternator may not be functioning properly.

In these situations, a tow truck can safely transport your car to a repair shop or to your home. Furthermore, if you’re stranded in a remote location without access to another vehicle, a tow truck can provide a reliable and efficient solution to get your fleet vehicle on the road and to the mechanic.

Knowing when to call a tow truck can save you time and money and, most importantly, keep you safe on the road. Whether you’re involved in an accident, need to transport your vehicle, are stuck in snow or mud, or have a dead battery, a professional tow truck service can provide a reliable and safe solution. Remember to choose a reputable company and prioritise your safety in these situations.
