Walied Abdeldayem is a managing director at Intellect Dispute Experts Advisory (IDEA). He is a qualified civil engineer and has over 20 years’ experience in the engineering and construction industries. He is a planning and scheduling expert with extensive experience in prospective day to day planning and project controls, as well as delay analysis and forensic planning and scheduling. In addition, Walied has significant experience in assessing and quantifying delay damages.

Walied has provided expert advice and expert witness services to contractors, subcontractors and project owners on various complex construction projects in the Americas, the Middle East and Africa. He has been involved in various arbitration and litigation cases, has given oral evidence, and has solid cross-examination and hot-tubbing experience.

Walied is a certified project management professional, a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a certified cost estimator by the CIQS, accredited by the Academy of Experts, and a RICS-accredited expert witness.

Walied holds an MBA degree from the University of Manchester; in his dissertation, he developed a practical and proactive enterprise-wide model for managing claims and disputes in construction projects through the projects life cycle. Walied also holds an LLM in construction law and arbitration from Robert Gordon University; in his LLM dissertation, Walied researched uncertainties in time-related disputes and established guidelines to help reduce such uncertainties when deciding on and/or performing delay analyses.

Walied is a frequent public speaker and has published various articles. Some of his talks include “Schedules Strategies to Promote Collaboration & Avoid Disputes” (OGCA Conference); “the roles of experts in arbitration” (ICC Conference) and “project management execution plan” (CIQS Seminar).
