Ted Jonas is Senior Counsel at Dentons’ Tbilisi Office.

He advises clients on international business transactions, energy and infrastructure projects, government relations, and dispute resolution. His practice involves the negotiation and documentation of company formations, joint ventures, privatisations, financings, oil and gas production sharing agreements, and private equity funds; the negotiation and resolution of complex disputes; public policy consulting work, and representation of clients in negotiations with government agencies.

A US-trained and educated lawyer licensed in Washington, DC, Ted has worked on cross-border transactions and disputes in the United States, the EU, Russia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Georgia. He was Office Managing Partner of DLA Piper Georgia from 2005 until 2014.

Ted was a law clerk for the Honourable Joseph W Hatchett, US Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit (1991-1992), Lead Articles Editor of the Cornell International Law Journal (1990-1991) and a Legislative Aide in the US House of Representatives (1985-1988). Before joining DLA Piper, he was Of Counsel in the Washington, DC office of another global law firm (1999-2004) and was one of the founders of the legacy firm on which DLA Piper’s Georgia practice is based (1996-1999).
