Samoa, officially the Independent State of Samoa and until 1997 known as Western Samoa, is a Polynesian island country consisting of two main islands, two smaller, inhabited islands, and several smaller, uninhabited islands, including the Aleipata Islands.

After she left Brunt & Keli Law Firm in 2007, Sala Josephine moved back to Government and became the first female Assistant Chief Executive Officer heading a Legal Services Division for the Ministry of Natural Resources & Environment. Here she spearheaded a number of legislative reforms ranging from land registration, customary land leases, environment and conservation and climate change to name a few. She served MNRE for almost 10 years.

Sala Josephine left Government in 2016 to start her own private practice, Stowers Law Firm in 2017. In April of 2018 she partnered up with Alex Su’a and started Stowers & Su’a Lawyers.

Sala Josephine Stowers Kolo is active in her community, serves her aiga as a Matai and is also active in her area of passion, the environment. With her passion of the environment, she pioneered the set-up of the Samoa Conservation Society Inc. She is a member of CARITAS Internationales.
