George is the managing partner of Lin & Partners, specialising in banking and finance, corporate and mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and dispute resolution matters.

George’s practice has covered a full range of commercial transactions, including general corporate and corporate governance, IPO, hostile and friendly acquisitions of public companies, tender offers, and share/debt offerings. Over the years he has represented numerous local and multinational clients in the course of their business operations in Taiwan and overseas. Apart from non-contentious matters, George has also litigated various high-profile, complex and large-scale cases and has consistently secured satisfactory results for the clients.

George has served for two terms as an independent director of Mega Financial Holding, the largest government-owned publicly listed financial institution in Taiwan with global operations in banking, bills finance, insurance, asset management and securities.

In addition to law practice, George has served as legal advisor to numerous government agencies and trade associations, including the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, National Bankers Association, Taiwan Financial Services Roundtable, National Development Fund, Taiwan CPA Association, Centres for Disease Control, Institute for Information Technology, Taiwan Bankers Association, Central Deposit Insurance Corporation, and Taiwan’s cabinet, the Executive Yuan. Dr. Lin is also an arbitrator at the R.O.C. Arbitration Association. In particular, in response to the overhauling of the national energy policy in Taiwan, Dr. Lin had established the firm’s energy practice before Taiwan’s new Energy Act came into effect in early 2017. As the new Energy Act liberalises the energy market in Taiwan, Dr. Lin has since advised Taiwan Power Corp., the state-owned energy monopoly, extensively on various matters including, among others, strategies for corporate transformation into holding company structure, which is expected to be the largest corporate restructuring project in Taiwan’s history.

George has remained active in the academic sector. He is an associate professor at Soochow University School of Law in Taiwan, and a frequent contributor to the mainstream publications. Dr. Lin is the author of numerous Taiwan chapters for Law Business Research’s publications, and has recently published a book on financial product regulation “Theory and Practices of Financial Consumer Protection Act” in the Taiwan Law Journal. Dr. Lin has regularly participated in seminars and lectured throughout Asia for over 30 years.

George is recognised by Chambers Asia-Pacific as a leading/Band 1 attorney for banking & finance. In addition, Dr. Lin was named the “Disputes Star of the Year” in Taiwan by AsiaLaw in its Asialaw Asia-Pacific Dispute Resolution Awards 2017.

Earlier in his career, George was a senior associate at Lee & Li Attorneys-at-Law and Baker & McKenzie.

George has obtained his Ph.D. from National Cheng-Chi University (1994), an LL.M. from Soochow University (1986), and an LL.B. from National Taiwan University (1984).
