Burçin Gözlüklü, Ph.D.

Burçin Gözlüklü serves as the managing director of Centrum Sworn-In Financial Advisory and Consulting since the beginning of 2015. He also serves as the tax associate of a Netherlands based consulting group, NXT Group of Companies, Istanbul Office. He also serves as the business partner of Van Campen/Liem, a Dutch based leading advisory firm for most of the Turkish conglomerates.

He still participates in many international conferences and round tables as a well-known expert speaker in his profession.

Experience in Public Sector:

Burçin worked as a tax inspector within the Turkish Ministry of Finance Tax Inspectors Board for 10 years. Beginning from the mid-2008, he was appointed as the Secretary General of the Turkish Accounting Standards Board (now named as Public Oversight Board), and took the role of adopting the international accounting standards (IFRS/IASs) into Turkish legislation for 3 years. During this period, he participated as a member in the Asian – Oceanian Standard Setters Group (AOSSG) and as an observer member in the World Standard Setters (WSS) Group. He took an active role in drafting the new Turkish Commercial Code (TCC) and represented Turkey with respect to accounting and auditing related regulations of the new TCC during the negotiation process of the EU Acquis.

Experience in Private Sector:

He left office in public sector in 2010, and took office as the Auditing Group Coordinator of Koc Holding Inc., which is the biggest conglomerate and the only Top 250 Fortune’s Global Listing company in Turkey with nearly 190 companies and 50 billion dollars of annual gross turnover. During the last three years period until his participation to Centrum, Burçin served as the tax management coordinator of Koc companies responsible from the tax advisory and management of the group firms.

Associations:

He acted as a member in TUSIAD (Turkish Industry and Business Association) Sub-Working Committee on Intellectual Property Rights during the period 2011-2014 and as a TUSIAD representative in the Public Oversight Board’s Accounting Standards Review Committees between 2011 and 2013.

He has been serving as the executive board member of the International Financial Management Association of Turkey since 2013.

Education:

Burçin received his BA degree in Business Administration from the Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences. Burcin also received his Phd degree in “Accounting & Finance” from Başkent University Academy of Administrative and Social Sciences.

Mahmut Eyüboğlu

Mahmut Eyüboğlu started to work at a Legal500 law firm in 2011, when he was in the fourth grade in Bilkent University. After graduating the Faculty of Law, Mr. Eyuboglu continued to work in the same law firm as trainee. After the one-year compulsory traineeship Mr. Eyuboglu was admitted to the Istanbul Bar. Mr. Eyuboglu worked as an In-House lawyer in a Turkish Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) company for two years.

On December 2015, he established his own law firm Eyuboglu & Buyukatak.

Mr. Eyuboglu acts for various domestic and foreign investors in real estate market, include real estate investments companies, landowners, developers and lenders. He focuses his practice on corporate law, landlord-tenant law, litigation and land registry transactions process. He also advises his clients on Urban-Renewal Law in Turkey.

He is fluent in English.

Aytuğ Büyükatak

Aytuğ Büyükatak is a graduate of Cankaya University, Ankara. He has completed his one-year compulsory traineeship under the supervision of the President of Union of Turkish Bar Association and had his LLM in Rotterdam Erasmus Universiteit in the Netherlands. After working as a legal counsel of a state owned Petroleum Distribution Company in Ankara, he decided to move to Istanbul and joined a Legal500 law firm. Aytug is a lawyer since 2009.

On December 2015, Aytug Established his own law firm Eyuboglu & Buyukatak.

Aytug is advising various individual and corporate clients mostly from the Gulf region investing in real estate in Turkey. His expertise includes real property acquisitions for his clients, project development structuring and zoning issues. He has been involved in almost all types of real estate deals run by our firm. Real estate acquisitions led by Aytug during 2013 have a value of more than USD 20 million. He is currently working on his PhD thesis at the Istanbul Kultur University. Aytug is a member of The Hague Academy of Private International Law.

Aytug speaks fluent Dutch and English and has basic skills in German.

Umut Güneş

Born in 1973, Umut Güneş graduated from Ankara University’s Faculty of Law in 1996. After completing his legal internship, he co-founded Gunes & Gunes Law Firm in Kemer/Turkey in 1999 together with his wife and colleague Ebru Güneş.

In his legal career exceeding 20 years, Umut Gunes, the founding partner, has handled cases in almost all legal specialties, though he mostly specialized in commercial law, criminal law, contract law, corporate law, debt restructuring, construction and real estate law, administrative law, hotel lease and management contracts. He successfully litigated against and on behalf of enterprises across the full spectrum of business; especially major corporations, hotel chains, banks, business tycoons, insurance companies and tourism firms in numerous high-profile cases some of which resonated with the members of Turkey’s legal community as well as the press.

Umut Güneş has also actively involved in politics. He ran several campaigns in Antalya and achieved various successes in his political life. Apart from his legal and political career he is actively pursuing academics and is studying sociology.

Selcuk Esenyel

Selcuk S. Esenyel is the founding partner of Esenyel&Partners and is a qualified lawyer admitted to the Istanbul Bar Association after completing his LL.B. Law degree in Turkey and studying for an LL.M. in the United Kingdom. He primarily focuses on maritime, admiralty, dispute resolution, banking and finance and asset finance and securitisation. He has acted for a wide range of clientele, from P&I Clubs to H&M insurers, to international banks, to ship charterers and owners.
