Raveendra has over 30 years of international experience in various business operations including finance, investor relations and general management.

He qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1985 and worked for various Public Accounting firms in the United Kingdom and in 1988 joined Price Waterhouse, Singapore as Audit Senior. In 1989, he was recruited by Carrier International Corporation (subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation, a US Fortune 100 company), in their Asia Pacific Regional Headquarters in Singapore.  In 1993, he was attached to Carrier’s subsidiary in India, which is a public listed company, as the Chief Financial Officer and thereafter as Chief Financial Officer of Carrier’s Singapore operation, General Manager of Brunei and Malaysian operation and finally as Director, Aftermarket at the Asia Pacific Operation in Singapore.

In 2004, Raveendra left Carrier and founded Rimbun. At Rimbun, his specialty includes Corporate Turnaround and Rehabilitating Abandon Residential and Commercial Projects. He also acts as a Consultant to the National Housing Department in their rehabilitation endeavors and is also the elected council member for the Insolvency Practitioners Association of Malaysia.

Recently, he was appointed as the Industry Panel Member for the Accounting & Finance Programmes (Forensic Accounting & Data Analytics) for Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation as is a member of Insolvency Practice Committee for Malaysian Institute of Accountants

In year 2019, Raveendra obtained his license to practice as an Approved Liquidator and established his insolvency practice in 2020 under Messrs. RKN & Co (affiliated with  Rimbun) pursuant to the new guideline by the Accountant General’s Department of Malaysia and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.

Raveendra Kumar Nathan further obtained the approval to practice as an Approved Liquidator in Labuan from the Labuan Financial Services Authority in year 2021.

Khairuzzaman Muhammad

KHAIRUZZAMAN MUHAMMAD is a partner in the Projects and Corporate Advisory practice group since January 2005. He was awarded a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree in 1988 from the Essex Institute of Higher Education (now known as the Anglia Ruskin University), in the United Kingdom, and was enrolled as a Barrister-at-Law of Lincoln’s Inn in 1989. He was admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 1990, and commenced his career specialising in all aspects of commercial litigation, principally in areas of banking law, corporate law, administrative law and constitutional law. In the course of his litigation career, Khairuzzaman was involved in several landmark cases before the Malaysian Courts, right up to the Federal Court level, dealing with legal issues pertaining to judicial review, banking law, company law and constitutional law.

In May 2000, Khairuzzaman was awarded a Graduate Diploma in Commercial Law from the University of Sydney, Australia. Since then, he has been actively involved in advising government agencies and companies, corporations, as well as financial institutions on issues relating to corporate and shareholders related matters, debt-financing issues, contractual disputes, joint-ventures, financing, land development projects and modern corporate governance. Khairuzzaman was involved in the drafting of the East Coast Economic Region Development Council Act 2008 as well as several other Federal and State legislations. He retired as the most Senior Director of SME Bank Berhad, a development financial institution wholly owned by the Ministry of Finance, Malaysia that is mandated to nurture, develop and finance SMEs in Malaysia in 2019, and was also an Independent Non-Executive Director of MIMOS, the advanced technology research and development centre set up by the Government of Malaysia. He currently sits on the Boards of several private companies.

Michael C. M. Soo

Michael Soo joined the firm in 1993 as a partner. He is head of the IP and IT department of the firm. Michael was the past president of the Malaysia Intellectual Property Association (“MIPA”), and is currently the president of Asian Patent Attorneys Association, Malaysia Country Group, and a councilor of Asian Patent Attorneys Association (“APAA”). He was a member of the Copyright Law Review Ad-hoc Committee, under the Attorney General’s Chambers, Malaysia, and is a member of the IP Committee of the Bar Council of Malaysia.

He has practised exclusively in all areas of IP law, with emphasis on enforcement and civil litigation, for over 27 years. He has appeared as lead counsel or co-counsel in a number of infringement and/or passing-off actions before the High Court, Court of Appeal and Federal Court (formerly known as Supreme Court).

In addition to advisory and litigation work in all areas of intellectual property law, he has initiated, conducted and concluded settlement negotiations involving intellectual property rights leading to amicable resolution of disputes before litigation as well as cases pending before the courts. He has on many occasions been asked by potential litigants or their legal counsel in cases where he was not representing either party to give a non-binding opinions, as an informal guideline or basis for settlement negotiations.

He appeared as lead counsel in a trial involving alleged copyright infringement of several well-known brands of software before the Kuching Sessions Court pursuant to an ad hoc licence granted by the Rt Honourable Chief Judge of the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak. The trial was probably one of the few fully contested infringement actions involving software instituted in Malaysia in recent years. The alleged offender was one of the largest civil engineering firms in Malaysia. The Court acquitted the alleged offender of all the charges. The Public Prosecutor’s appeal was dismissed by the appeal courts.
