Jean-Pascal Nepper

Jean-Pascal Nepper is a Partner within KPMG Luxembourg’s Advisory practice. He began his career in 1997 as a relationship manager in private banking, managing Russian-speaking and Eastern European HNWIs. He then joined KPMG in 2001 as a management consultant, performing and delivering organisational, IT and HR projects in the Luxembourg banking sector. Promoted to Partner in 2011, Jean-Pascal currently leads the Customer and Operations and HR Advisory practices, with a focus on large-scale transformation programmes, customer-oriented solutions and human resource projects.

Wim Ritz

With a masters degree in Law, Wim Ritz began his career in a private equity house, where over the course of five years, he gained extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions.

He lectured in corporate and real estate law at a Belgian business school for seven years, and was also a member of the Belgian Bar Association as an attorney-at-law for ten years.

Wim joined Vistra in 2010 and he currently heads up the Luxembourg office. Wim’s everyday responsibilities include a supervisory and business development role for the maintenance of Luxembourg KPI’s. Moreover, Wim also takes up advisory positions in client structures as he guides them through the life-cycle of their cross-border investments.

Patrick Goebel

Patrick Goebel advises clients on all types of retail and private Luxembourg investment funds including UCITS, private equity funds, real estate funds, and other alternative investment funds investing in non-financial assets and tangible assets. He also advises UCITS management companies, AIFMs, EuVECA managers, depositaries and administrators on legal and regulatory aspects as well as investors on their due-diligence of Luxembourg funds.

Mr. Goebel is consistently ranked as a leading lawyer for investment funds in Luxembourg by the leading legal directories, Chambers and Partners and The Legal 500. The 2017 edition of Chambers Europe notes that he is “client-focused, results-focused and very practical” with The Legal 500 EMEA noting in its 2017 guide that he has “in-depth knowledge of investment funds regulation.” In Chambers Global 2016 sources note that he is “experienced and able to craft imaginative solutions to unusual situations.” Mr. Goebel is also ranked in the 2015 and 2016 editions of Chambers Europe. The 2015 guide states that he is “very highly regarded for his regulatory expertise.” He has also been recognized for his work in this area by the Legal 500 EMEA, Chambers UK and IFLR 1000.

Mr. Goebel regularly speaks at conferences on various fund-related matters including private equity funds and the AIFMD. He is also a lecturer on civil liability at the University of Luxembourg and on Luxembourg real estate funds at European Business School (EBS).

Mr. Goebel’s experience prior to joining Dechert includes serving as counsel with a magic circle law firm, and as head of fund engineering within prime fund solutions at Banque Générale du Luxembourg SA (now BNP Paribas Securities Services).

Bahya Bouharati specialises in investment funds. She has also experience in Luxembourg insurance law and in Islamic Finance.

Fabio Gasperoni

After studying Business Administration and Law at Milan’s Bocconi University and Business Administration at Wits Business School in Johannesburg, he worked as international tax advisor at Ernst & Young in Luxembourg and subsequently at a major Corporate Service Provider in Luxembourg where he created and headed the Corporate and Wealth Structuring Department.

He has been a Trusts & Estates Practitioner since 2010 and served as partner at Maprima Luxembourg since 2013.

Bernard Beerens

Bernard Beerens is an equity partner in AKD Luxembourg. He is a lawyer since 2002 and a partner with AKD since 2016. Bernard is currently heading AKD’s Luxembourg office and AKD Luxembourg’s corporate practice group.

Before joining AKD, he worked for a major UK-based law firm then at the Luxembourg office of another leading Dutch law firm, advising clients on various corporate and finance transactions. During 2008 and 2009, he headed the Luxembourg desk of the corporate and finance department of the same firm in New York, mainly serving US and Canadian clients on Luxembourg legal matters. After having established his own firm Beerens & Avocats in 2010 and managed the growth and success of his firm for 6 years, Bernard and his team joined AKD in 2016.

Bernard advises multinational clients, including major private equity firms, hedge funds and non-regulated real estate funds, and high net wealth individuals on structuring and financing of international transactions, formation of joint venture and securitization vehicles, corporate organizations and reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, exit strategies and corporate governance matters.

Bernard resolves complex commercial questions to structure and restructure clients’ businesses. He also provides expert advice on financing activities with a focus on financial, banking, securitization and (re)structuring transactions. He represents lenders and borrowers in all types of financing transactions and advises on collateral arrangements, financial instruments and related transactional documents.
