Gonzalo Menéndez Park

Gonzalo Menéndez Park has served as Minister of Foreign Affairs and as a member of the Board of Directors of Guatemala’s Electricity Company and of the National Institute of Electrification. He has extensive experience in advising regional companies, especially those in the financial and pharmaceutical field.

Within his professional practice he has served as a member of several boards, and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Grupo Camino Real, the largest hotel chain in Guatemala.

Likewise, he is one of the most recognized intellectual property lawyers in the country, in which he has brought several litigation cases for the protection of well-known international brands. In the course of his professional career, he has served as university professor at the Rafael Landívar University and as a counselor at the Ministry of Public Health.

Graduated in Legal Sciences, Attorney and Notary at the University Rafael Landívar in Guatemala.

Cristián Novales Schlesinger

As part of his professional experience, he has attended and represented international and local clients in their investment activities. He has advised on complex financial structures, including the review of financial schemes through capital markets. He has worked in the negotiation, drafting and review of contracts for infrastructure projects under schemes “turnkey”. He also participated in the creation of methodology for effective legal management of EPC (“Engineering, Procurement and Construction”), which has allowed projects to be developed in time, at the lowest possible cost, and in compliance levels performance offered by the contractors. He has worked in the leadership and direction of greater due diligence to project feasibility assessments. He has also provided advice for the prevention of conflicts, multimillion legal disputes related to the sector of infrastructure and logistics, and in the direction and coordination of a litigation team in driving several thousand lawsuits.

Cristián Novales is Advocate and Notary graduated Magna Cum Laude from the  Francisco Marroquín University, and has three master’s degrees: one in Banking and Financial Regulation, Boston University (USA), another in Business Law and Management, Francisco Marroquín University and an additional in Finance from the School of Business at the  Francisco Marroquín University.

Ana Gabriela Roca

Gabriela´s practice is focused in the development, financing, acquisition and operation of energy, fuel and infrastructure projects for foreign and local companies. She has advised an important number of companies interested in investing in green field projects, cross-border acquisitions of ongoing projects, mergers, sale  and financing of equipment  through export credit agencies and other investments in relation with the energy business.

Gabriela´s experience and expertise in the negotiation of construction turnkey contracts is highly appreciated and valued well by developers and constructions companies.

Her experience in the energy sector includes the participation in bills of law proposal on energy market regulation since the creation of the Wholesale Electricity Market in the year 2000 until present and an active monitoring of legislative proposals with an impact in the energy market and infrastructure business.

Gabriela has been counsel to development groups using different technologies for power generation (thermo, hydro, solar, wind and geothermal power projects) and also to local and foreign banks in financing such type of projects. She also has experience in legal due diligence processes for financing and acquisition of companies.

In 2008, Gabriela was appointed by the National Association of Power Generators (ANG) as the energy generators´ representative with the Board of the Wholesale Electricity Market Administrator (AMM) in Guatemala. She hold such position during 2 consecutive periods. During such tenure, she actively participated in amending and modifying local energy regulations and rules to comply with international treaties to which Guatemala is a member in relation with the integration of the Regional Electricity Market (MER) throughout Central America.

Gabriela has been panelist and speaker in international infrastructure and energy forums and seminars and has represented industry associations and entities.

Before QIL+4 Abogados, Gabriela was founding partner of 4Abogados and worked as an attorney in Bufete Olivero, S.A. from 1999 to 2010.
