Sofia Roinishvili

In 1993-1998 Sofia Roinishvili studied at the Tbilisi State University, the Faculty of Law; in 2003-2004 she completed Masters studies of the Law Faculty of the same University and in 2005 she was awarded the academic degree of a Master of European Law.

She joined the Law Firm Kordzakhia, Jgenti, GP in 2007. She had worked for Tbilisi Office of PricewaterhousCoopers as a senior advisor in tax legislation related matters, for the UBC International. As an employee of these companies she counseled the participants and advisors (BP, Statoil, Inpex) of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and South Caucasus pipelines; she was a reporter of the IBFD, providing information on amendments to tax legislation of Georgia. She served as a lawyer at the State Antimonopoly Service of Georgia and the Ministry of Culture of Georgia.

The main practice areas of Sopho Roinishvili are as follows: tax law, international taxation (double taxation agreements), company and administrative law.

Ted Jonas is Senior Counsel at Dentons’ Tbilisi Office.

He advises clients on international business transactions, energy and infrastructure projects, government relations, and dispute resolution. His practice involves the negotiation and documentation of company formations, joint ventures, privatisations, financings, oil and gas production sharing agreements, and private equity funds; the negotiation and resolution of complex disputes; public policy consulting work, and representation of clients in negotiations with government agencies.

A US-trained and educated lawyer licensed in Washington, DC, Ted has worked on cross-border transactions and disputes in the United States, the EU, Russia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Georgia. He was Office Managing Partner of DLA Piper Georgia from 2005 until 2014.

Ted was a law clerk for the Honourable Joseph W Hatchett, US Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit (1991-1992), Lead Articles Editor of the Cornell International Law Journal (1990-1991) and a Legislative Aide in the US House of Representatives (1985-1988). Before joining DLA Piper, he was Of Counsel in the Washington, DC office of another global law firm (1999-2004) and was one of the founders of the legacy firm on which DLA Piper’s Georgia practice is based (1996-1999).
