Casting your Net too Wide

A lot of business owners make the mistake of casting their net too wide. You must define your niche or your area of specialization. If you try to sell your product to everyone under the sun then this will stop you from reaching the right people. The more narrow your market is, the better chance you have of being able to reach the right people. Do your market research and make sure that you are always measuring how people react to your campaigns. Trying to do Everything Yourself

Another monumental mistake is trying to do everything yourself. If you micromanage everything or if you are a bit of a perfectionist then you need to take note here. Keep your eye on your bottom line where possible and know that every dollar you spend is taking away from your profit margin. If you want to shield your business then make sure that you have at least six months worth of income put to one side, so if things do dry up, you know you are covered.

Launching without a Plan

Launching without a plan is a huge mistake. It’s always a good idea for you to start with a plan, even if it is an informal document. If you don’t have one then you might as well be going on a 40-mile hike without a map. Studies have found that businesses that have a formal plan tend to achieve viability more than those that do not. If you fail to plan, you will be planning to fail too.
